The first series-production model of the newly established AUDI brand, created specifically for the Chinese market – the AUDI E5 Sportback – rolled off the assembly line on August 18 in Anting. Pre-sale for the AUDI E5 Sportback, developed in the strategic partnership between Audi and its Chinese partner SAIC, started on the same day: Customers in China can now preorder the model. The first vehicles will be delivered in September.

Fermín Soneira, CEO of the Audi-SAIC cooperation project, says: “Every vehicle from the AUDI brand embodies the best of both worlds: iconic design, premium quality, technical precision, emotional driving dynamics, combined with China’s cutting-edge technology, innovation and digital ecosystem. With pre-sales now launched alongside production, the E5 Sportback enters the market fully equipped to deliver an uncompromising experience for Chinese customers. This milestone marks the beginning of a new era of ICVs.”

Dedicated production facility for AUDI models

To manufacture AUDI models, the two partners have established a dedicated production facility on the existing SAIC Volkswagen site in Anting, Shanghai. Initially, around 700 employees will produce the AUDI E5 Sportback there. Two additional AUDI models are scheduled to follow within the next two years. The manufacturing operations in Anting are defined by a high degree of automation, state-of-the-art technologies – including machine learning for quality monitoring – and a fully digitalized production management system.

Combining SUV spaciousness with an elegant Sportback silhouette, the Q6 Sportback e-tron not only boasts a striking and dynamic look but also offers practical advantages for long-distance travel – perfect for summer vacations.

Thanks to its electric range of up to 657 kilometers, advanced driver assistance systems, and adaptive air suspension, even long highway stretches can be covered without frequent charging stops. This makes the Q6 Sportback e-tron ideally suited for road trips and longer car journeys. With 511 liters of trunk volume – expandable to up to 1,373 liters – the Sportback provides ample space for luggage, sports equipment, and camping gear. The additional 64-liter frunk is perfect for smaller bags and travel items that need to be easily accessible. Its high towing capacity of up to 2,400 kilograms also makes the Q6 Sportback e-tron an excellent tow vehicle for trailers and boats.

Advanced charging technology is also particularly beneficial for travelers. At fast-charging stations, up to 265 kilometers of range can be added in just ten minutes. A 21-minute charge from 10 to 80 percent makes travel breaks quick and convenient. During short charging sessions, the car remains air-conditioned, making it a comfortable place to relax in hot weather. While driving, the air conditioning has minimal impact on range. Adaptive air suspension with controlled damping enhances comfort on long journeys by automatically adjusting to the load, ensuring optimal ride height and suspension at all times. This contributes to a smooth and fatigue-free driving experience – ideal for long distances, even on poorly maintained roads.

The Q6 Sportback e-tron also offers first-class entertainment on the road. With the AirConsole gaming platform, Audi brings interactive gaming fun into the car. Passengers can play together on the central MMI touch display or on the MMI passenger display in models with that feature. Popular apps like YouTube and DAZN are available through the integrated app store, providing entertainment especially during charging breaks. With its blend of comfort, spaciousness, range, and modern technologies, the Q6 Sportback e-tron is the perfect travel companion – for all kinds of vacations. From city trips to beach holidays and outdoor adventures, every journey becomes an experience filled with style and comfort.

The interior of the new Audi Q3 demonstrates how form and function become one. Premium materials, intelligent technologies, and a customizable lighting and sound concept come together to create a driving experience that engages the senses.

Clean lines, intuitive operation, and smart technology are combined into a harmonious entity inside the new Audi Q3. A generously sized application area extends from the doors across the entire width of the dashboard, highlighting the horizontal layout for a maximum sense of space. The calm, clear design of the dashboard continues into the clean, uncluttered console layout. Simple design and a user-focused layout of the cup holders and covered charging tray reflect Audi’s philosophy of “visual clarity.” At the heart of it all is the digital stage: the panoramic display – with the 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus and a 12.8-inch MMI touch display – features a driver-oriented, curved design. It is complemented by an optional head-up display that projects important information directly into the driver’s field of vision. Flush door handles, carefully coordinated materials with soft-touch surfaces, and chrome details on the switches underscore the vehicle’s visual appeal, tactile quality, and overall comfort.

More space thanks to clever controls

A new steering wheel control unit with two stalks on the steering column has resulted in more storage space in the center console, a new user experience, and a more spacious feel. The lever on the right selects the gear, while the one on the left controls the lighting functions and windshield wiper and cleaning functions. The elimination of the gear selector in the center console frees up space there. This has been used for two cup holders and a large storage compartment under the height-adjustable center armrest. The cooled inductive charging tray with 15 watts of charging power including two USB-C ports can be closed by a sliding cover if desired. Two additional USB-C ports are located in the rear.

Lighting effects create atmosphere

When it gets dark, various lighting packages (ambient light package plus/pro) set the mood in the interior. Marker lights in the dashboard and center console emphasize the interior’s clean lines. Jochen Stumpf, interior lighting systems developer, explains: “We’ve worked with light guides, LED modules, and diffusers here. The light guides transport the light, and the diffuser scatters it so that it appears as a delicate strip in the console.” Indirect ambient lighting beneath the MMI panoramic display and in the doors further accentuates the interior architecture and evokes a sense of lightness. As a new design element, the front doors are now optionally available with large-area illumination. Stumpf adds: “To achieve this effect, over 300 diamond-shaped cutouts of varying sizes are laser-cut into the fabric panel. A light source in the door trim backlights the segments which, due to their different sizes, show a dynamic lighting progression – even when unlocking and locking the Q3.” Customers can choose between 30 different colors, enabling a personalized lighting experience.

Virtually generated surround sound

The optional SONOS premium sound system provides an immersive audio experience with virtually generated surround sound. Twelve high-performance speakers, including a center speaker and a subwoofer, deliver powerful sound with a maximum amplifier output of 420 watts. Volker Seemann from product marketing explains: “Targeted use of sound reflections creates a surround-sound effect that intensifies the spatial perception of sound. Thanks to intelligent signal processing, everyone sitting in the vehicle can enjoy a listening experience tailored to their individual seat.”

Four preconfigured sound profiles are available (neutral, concert, lounge, and podcast), plus a customizable sound profile. Customers also have the option of enhancing their sound experience with features that can be added at any time via Functions on Demand (FoD). The sound function package supplements the selected sound system with three additional features. Bass intensification creates a more precise and powerful bass experience. Automatic level adjustment maintains a constant volume when changing sources, and music revitalization improves the sound of compressed music files.

Sustainably designed interior

A total of nine equipment packages are available for the interior. Fast-growing, resistant timber is used for wood applications. The interior elements in Impressum cloth are made from 100 percent recycled polyester, as are the upholstery fabrics Passage, Impressum, single-color cloth, and microfiber. All textile and microfiber seat covers have been systematically designed using monomaterials so they can later be recycled as single-origin materials in the circular economy, thus eliminating waste and drastically reducing the carbon footprint. Audi produces velvet velour floor mats using Econyl, a completely recycled nylon fiber made from old fishing nets, carpet remnants, and industrial waste. Audi is thus also focusing on a future-oriented and efficient use of resources in the Audi Q3.

This year’s Audi Summer Concerts have concluded with a performance by accordionist Martynas Levickis. Throughout the series, some 22,000 guests attended a total of 14 unique concerts held at various venues across Ingolstadt. World-renowned classical artists including star violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and promising newcomers captivated audiences and drew widespread media attention.

A final chord met with resounding applause. Accordionist Martynas Levickis delivered a fitting finale to this year’s Audi Summer Concerts in the Ingolstadt Festival Hall. The 36-year-old Lithuanian star was celebrated by an enthusiastic audience for the captivating sounds he drew from his instrument. Earlier in the evening he presented his own arrangement of George Bizet’s Carmen Suite together with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and conductor Omer Meir Wellber.

Levickis’s performance marked the conclusion of this year’s Audi Summer Concerts series, once again distinguished by its remarkable diversity and spirit of artistic exploration. In total, 14 concerts attracted roughly 22,000 visitors to various venues across Ingolstadt.

Original production in a unique setting

On the opening day of the Audi Summer Concerts on June 21, guests enjoyed a special treat in an extraordinary setting with a performance by the Arcis Saxophone Quartet and the vocal ensemble LauschWerk. The construction site of the new Museum of Concrete Art and Design Ingolstadt was transformed into a unique venue for the event.

The performance featuring star violinist Midori and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin also received outstanding reviews in the media. A resounding success across the board, the opening concert provided a spectacular start for the entire Audi Summer Concerts series.

Star violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter delights around 1,400 guests

The rush for tickets to see a world star of the classical music scene meant that Anne-Sophie Mutter’s concert with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was completely sold out within a few days. The renowned violinist delighted an audience of around 1,400 in Ingolstadt’s Festival Hall with the second violin concerto composed for her by film composer and five-time Oscar winner John Williams.

A lively atmosphere prevailed at the popular open-air classical music concerts on the second weekend of the festival. On two warm summer evenings, about 8,000 guests enjoyed world-class concerts in Klenzepark.

Inspiring the next generation

With special performances for children and young people, Audi continued its tradition of making classical music accessible to the youngest of audiences. At the family concert on July 6, the Aurora Orchestra from London presented their own version of Camille Saint-Saëns’ The Carnival of the Animals, transforming the Ingolstadt Festival Hall into a spectacular sound adventure with movement, stage design, and lighting, complete with goosebump-inducing moments. At the premiere of the commissioned work ADUI und die Kraft der magischen Ringe [“ADUI and the power of the magic rings”] with the Audi Philharmonic Wind Orchestra on July 12, the young concertgoers were actively involved in the creative search for Audi’s missing rings.

“The Audi Summer Concerts were once again an outstanding example of cultural diversity and musical excellence this year,” said Xavier Ros, Member of the Board of Management for Human Resources at AUDI AG. “We are especially delighted with the great response to the offerings for young people. With innovative concert formats, we want to bring people together and inspire the younger generation to take an interest in classical music.”

Audi Summer Concerts 2026: new original production planned

Preparations for the Audi Summer Concerts 2026 are already underway. Among the highlights, an exciting original production with the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt is in the works, which will once again showcase Audi’s spirit of experimentation.
